EPA and the Institute for Sustainability announce the First International Congress on Sustainability Science and Engineering. The Congress will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio, August 9 to 13, 2009 and will address the multidisciplinary nature of industrial sustainability along the supply chain. The Congress is organized by AIChE’s Institute for Sustainability, cosponsored by EPA, NSF, and NIST and supported by ASME.
Associated with ICOSSE is a one day workshop on Water. The Water Workshop will be held on August 13, 2009 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The goal of the workshop is to provide a forum on the science required to sustainably manage the nation’s water resources.
Alternative transportation fuels from coal and biomass have the potential to lower greenhouse emissions and petroleum fuel use. The Sustainable Engineering Forum is accepting applications for three awards to acknowledge research and outstanding contributions relative to engineering and sustainability. September 1 is the deadline for 2009 Student Award and for the Outstanding Researcher Award. Applications for the Outstanding Industrial Practice Award is on September 15, 2009.
